BREAKING NEWS
Joseph Mensah, a police officer who has been involved in plenty of fatal shootings, has been sworn into Waukesha County as a sheriff’s deputy. Mensah’s most recent case resulted in death for Alvin Cole. Alvin Cole, 17 on Feb. 2 when he was reportedly involved in a verbal altercation with another person at a local mall. Police say during the argument Alvin pulled out a stolen gun, even though he was commanded to drop the gun, he fired it, which caused Joseph to open fire. He stepped down in November and agreed to a 125,000-separation agreement with the City of Wauwatosa the next month. A private investigator recommended that he be fired, every shooting has been ruled as self-defense. According to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, police said “Mr. Mensah progressed through an extensive, thorough and exhaustive hiring process,” Waukesha County Sheriff Eric Severson said in a statement. “While some have expressed concerns about Mr. Mensah’s past uses of force…I have concluded that Mr. Mensah’s use of force was consistent with the Federal and State laws, Wisconsin training and uniformly applied police policy.” Severson said that Joseph will go through a supervised field training “same opportunities as every other deputy working for the Waukesha County Sheriff’s Office.” But it is no surprise that Alvin Cole’s family is disappointed with the decision to hire him as a police officer anywhere. Kimberly Motley, an attorney for the Cole family stated I’m not saying this man should not work,” she told the Associated Press. “But why does he have to go into law enforcement? He clearly is not good at it.” Joseph Mensah, a police officer who has been involved in plenty of fatal shootings, has been sworn into Waukesha County as a sheriff’s deputy.
